Open Houses

An Open House can be a very effective tool to promote your home or cottage to the right people.  Who are exactly the "right" people that you want to come see your property?  An open house may conjure images of a Saturday morning with all your nosy neighbours and random people walking through your home, spilling their Tim Horton's coffee and casing the joint!  These are not the people you want to attract for an open house.  So, who do you want to come into your home and how do you target them? In the end, you want qualified Buyers to come to your home.  The issue is how to filter out the majority of people who will go to an open house to  'kill time' or to be nosy from the qualified Buyers.  I feel the best way is to NOT have a standard public open house.  In Parry Sound our real estate board has a good "Real Estate Professional Open House' system in place.  We can conduct open houses of our properties for sale that are NOT for the general public and are only for other real estate professionals.  We have approximately 85 licensed real estate agents on the Parry Sound Board.  These real estate sales representatives and Brokers have qualified Buyers that they are looking to find suitable properties for.  A Real Estate Professional open house targets the people who are in contact with the qualified Buyers you want and eliminates the nosy neighbour!  (Some sellers do want to have a "public" open house, and that's fine with me too)
